The January 7, 2007 article in the NewScientist, "Dark matter mapped in 3D for first time" it was reported, "Dark Matter is an invisible substance that betrays its presence through the gravitational tug it exerts on ordinary matter".

What makes this so newsworthy and puzzling is no one has been able to define the origins of the mass responsible for this gravitational tug even though some of the greatest minds of the scientific community have spent close to half a century trying to.

This is because observations of the particle and baryonic forms of matter in the universe indicate they only comprise approximately 5 to 10% of the mass required to account for the total gravitational force or "tug" in the universe.

However, the fact that 90 to 95% of the mass of the universe is invisible even with the recent advancements in particle detection technology suggests that it may be made up of a non-particle form of matter

One may question the wisdom of hypothesizing Dark Matter is made up of a continuous non-particle form of mass based on the fact that we have been unable to detect the particles that could be responsible for it,

However, there are numerous other observations suggesting its existence.

For example, the observation that energy in itself is not quantized because a photon can have any frequency and therefore any energy greater than zero or less than infinity and the equation defining the relationship between mass and energy, E=m*c^2 indicates that mass is completely convertible to one or more photons with energies greater than zero or less than infinity.

This suggests there is a continuous non-quantized medium available to support the continuous properties associated with mass energy and the electromagnetic spectrum.

Another observation supporting its existence was made in 1924 by Louis de Broglie theorized that all particles have a wave or oscillating component.  His theories were confirmed by the discovery of electron diffraction by crystals in 1927 by Davisson and Germer.

These observations also suggest its existence because even the smallest possible particle must have a wave component, therefore a continuous medium must exist to support it.

However, when you combine the observations of de Broglie and the continuous properties of the electromagnetic spectrum with those present here regarding Dark Matter one realizes that a non-quantized or non-baryonic medium is required to give a unified definition of their properties.

In the upcoming weeks and months, The Imagineer’s Chronicles will present many more observations that support the existence of a continuous non-quantized form of mass that will make you question the idea that all mass is contained in particles.
